Everyone’s favorite Master Gunny Sgt. Joe Walters being presented VHV Anderson’s “Warrior of the Month “ for June by Founder Jesse Taylor. Joe is always there for all members and hosted the entire group and their families for a pig roast a few weeks ago, staying up all night preparing the delicious barbecue with a few other vets. He is generous with his time and will always pour you a drink and listen to your problems if you need him. After 31 years in the Marine Corp he always has a story to tell and proudly shares with our group weekly. What a pleasure to know this man and call him friend. We salute you and glad you are part of our family.

Jesse Taylor presenting June's Warrior of the month to Fred Wehrum. Fred served with the 8th Infantry Div. duing WWII afrom 1943-1945 and was involved in the Normandy invasion. He received the French Legion of Merit, bronze star, 2 purple hearts and 5 battle stars during his tour. He has not missed a meeting since joning our group and is an inspiration to us all. Truly represents a warrior among all our warriors in the group. We are so proud of him and he gets a standing ovation every week for his dedication to VHV Anderson. Salute to our oldest and most dedicated vet!

Norman Garrett, VHV "warrior of the month" for December. Norman not only greets each vet with a kind word every Wednesday at our meetings, he is also a member of the "Honor Guard" that provides military honors to all veterans buried at Dolly Cooper. They have multiple funerals every week and sometimes more than 1 a day. Tommy Bradshaw is also a member of this unit. Hats off and we salute you for the honor you do for our departed brothers and sisters. VHV leader Jesse Taylor is making the presentation.

Can't think of anyone more deserving of this honor than our own Joe Walters, "Warrior of the Month" for October. Not only has he given 33 years of his life in service to our country in the US Marine Corps, he gives each of us inspiration (not to mention kabars and P-38's) to continue service after our tours of duty are finished by helping others. Oohrah to this Marine!!!!!
